Etekcity
Etekcity Upgraded Smart Scale
- Power 4 AAA batteries
- Electrodes Foot pads, dual-frequency
- Body Metrics 13
- Weight Capacity 400 lb
Dual-frequency electrodes, 13 metrics, and steady readings for a midrange price.
Dual-frequency is the phrase worth finding on a body-fat scale's spec sheet, and this one has it. Most budget scales push a single current through your feet and call the result composition; running two frequencies gives the sensor more to work with. Combined with a 400-pound platform, 13 metrics and a 0.1-pound readout, that's why we point most people here first.
What you get at this price is the plain stuff done well. The platform is light at 2.3 pounds, so it lifts out of the way for mopping and never feels like a permanent appliance, and four AAA batteries come installed. The LCD is legible at a glance, which counts for more at six in the morning than any metric count.
The VeSync app is free and syncs with Apple Health, Google Fit, Fitbit, Samsung Health and MyFitnessPal. One quirk we noted: a weigh-in only lands in your history when the phone is in range with the app open, so the scale is perfectly happy without a phone but the log isn't. Leave the phone on the counter if you want the numbers to save themselves. It also won't push data to Happy Scale, which matters if you already track there.
The 0.1-pound resolution is a small psychological trap: a glass of water registers, and so does a salty dinner. Weigh at the same time each morning and read the weekly line instead of today's number, and this scale makes sense. That habit does more for its usefulness than any feature on it.
Bottom Line
We recommend it as the default because it measures 13 metrics on dual-frequency electrodes and the weights repeat, in a scale you can use without the app.
