Castelli Cento Bib Short
- Build Lightweight
- Chamois Slim, non-bulky
- Stitching Clean, durable finish
- Department Men's
Lightest, best-finished bib here, with a flat chamois for fast riding.
The Cento is the most expensive pair on this list, and the first thing that registers is how little fabric there seems to be. The panels are thin and light, the chamois is low and flat, and once you're on the bike none of it announces itself. If you race, ride fast group loops, or simply hate the feeling of a thick pad under you, this is the pair in this guide that disappears — and we think the fabric and the cut earn the premium.
Finish is where the money shows. The stitching is the cleanest of anything here, the straps sit flat under a jersey instead of rolling into a cord, and the panels haven't pilled or thinned through repeated washing. The cut is close, closer than the Przewalski or the baleaf, so go by the size chart rather than your usual jersey size and go up if you're between two.
The chamois is the honest trade. It's comfortable for a couple of hours and fine on gravel, but it doesn't have the depth of the Przewalski's or the CEROTIPOLAR's, and on a five-hour day you feel the difference before the end. What it gives you instead is the last hour of a hard ride, when a bulky pad starts to feel like something you're fighting, and this one still doesn't.
Bottom Line
Buy this one if you want the lightest, best-finished bib here and don't need a deep chamois — the premium goes into fabric and cut, not padding.
