Tumaz
Tumaz D-Ring Yoga Strap
- Buckle 4 mm welded D-ring
- Length 6 feet
- Material Cotton
- Thickness 2.5 mm
Textured cotton and a D-ring that locks a loop at whatever length a pose needs.
Cotton webbing is the first thing we notice: it has a texture to it, so it doesn't slide through a sweaty hand the way slick nylon webbing can. The D-ring is the real argument for it, though. Thread the tail through the two rings, pull, and you have locked a loop at whatever length the pose needs — long for a bound side angle, short to lasso a foot in a seated fold.
Six feet is the length we tested and it covers most seated and supine poses; the strap is also sold in eight and ten feet if you are tall or you like to loop it around both feet. The rings feel substantial rather than stamped and thin, and the buckle holds where you set it through a long hold. Colors run past a dozen, which sounds like marketing until you are the one picking a strap to match a mat.
Where it gives ground to a loop strap is speed. Changing grip mid-stretch means rethreading, and if you are switching feet every thirty seconds that's a beat of fiddling the sewn-loop straps don't ask for. For studio practice, where you set a length and hold it, that hardly registers.
Bottom Line
If you want a strap that cinches to any length, this is the one we keep coming back to: soft cotton webbing and a D-ring that holds where you set it.
