A walkable, sneaker-like spin shoe for SPD pedals and studio floors.
The sole is the reason to start here. The Slipstream is built to walk across a studio floor without the tip-toe clack of a stiff road shoe, and that changes the whole ritual of a spin class: you can get off the bike, cross the room, and refill a bottle without changing shoes. The upper looks more like a casual sneaker than a race shoe, which is a nice bonus if you are not into the bowling-shoe look.
We like the slip-on shape for quick transitions, but the fit is deliberately snug. Riders with high arches or wide feet may need to size up, and getting the shoe on can take a little wiggling at first. Once the front strap is set, the foot feels supported without pressure across the instep. For a spin studio with SPD bikes, the combination of walkability and support is hard to beat in this set.
The Slipstream also has a softer, more forgiving feel than the race-oriented shoes here, which is why we keep it in mind for back-to-back classes. It is not the cheapest shoe in the roundup, but the walkability is not a gimmick: it changes how the shoe fits into a studio routine. Sizing is the thing to get right, so try a half size up if your usual size feels tight across the toes.
Bottom Line
For SPD spin classes, the Slipstream is our pick when you want a shoe that walks like a sneaker and still feels locked in on the bike.
